wishing you well
With wishing you well, I try to connect with the tradition of throwing coins in bodies of water. I cannot quite remember the first time I threw a coin in a fountain for good luck. I also do not remember who taught me that it brought good luck, and one of my oldest memory of coins at the bottom of a fountain is dipping my hand in the fountains at the Parc des Tuileries on a hot summer day to try to retrieve some coins, and being told by my mother to leave them there. There is something very interesting with the suspicions we create for ourselves. If I only cross stepping on the road crossing lines, I’ll be fine. If I don’t step on the joints of paving stones, if I knock on wood, etc. Maybe visitors will ponder on their own superstitions scrying the water.
