Agnese Smaldone+
“Palma is a reoccurring character in Agnese Smaldone’s work, and like “the fold” in Deleuze’s famous writing on the Baroque, is a figure without a beginning and without an end. In a way, it ties all of her works together without making them part of a singular narrative. This figure resembles a palm tree or a nervous system, sometimes its feet are human-like. Palma is never the same; Palma is movement, a repetition of a self, and a constantly changing form—like a leaf passing through the seasons, regenerating itself.”
