“I begin talking about one of the images Kurpershoek sent me by e-mail: a drawing on semi-transparent paper, hung at an angle from a wooden pole on the wall. The drawings look like teeth extended into bones—but not extended from the tip, like a vampire's canine’s extend into fangs, rather extended from the base. Extruded into the body, into extra bits of skeleton, extra ribs or femurs or clavicles.
