Alix Stria is an interdisciplinary designer, who is at home in Amsterdam, Berlin, Vienna and Zurich (in alphabetical order), currently graduating from the Design Department at the Sandberg Instituut. Since 2020, Alix shares Studio SMS, a collaborative design practice, with Katharina Shafiei-Nasab.
A book, among other things. They are results, or maybe stepping stones, of an experimental writing practice that revolves around the intuitive, the unknown and the non-permanent. Blurring the lines between writing and reading, thought and material, body and identity, they attempt to expand the meaning of text. Maybe, in this sense, writing can become a tender tool for knowledge production and internal reflection rather than a means for documentation.
“Dripping slippery letters, spilling subconscious thoughts,” whispers the vulnerable voice in the headphones, an audio piece created in collaboration with Ton. The viewers are invited to join writing and reading moments, where they materialize thoughts, and in doing so disembody their experiences to become a body of text themselves.
