Atefeh Alaeddin+
Atefeh Alaeddin is a visual artist with an interdisciplinary approach. With a BA in photography, Atefeh primarily uses photographs, video, archival images, and text in her works. Her practice is intertwined with human interactions and communications. Her recent subject of interest is questioning her identity and consciousness and narrating through other persons' eyes.
To stimulate the sense of remembering, with photographs and narrations, I imply a request from viewers to memorize what they are seeing and hearing. whether the visuals remembered longer or the sound or just a vague concept of the story? What has been forgotten, and what has been retained? Storytelling is always connected to the collective memory of societies. Recalled details have been passed to the next generations with their alternations, and forgotten stories have been left behind. We shaped our culture, individual lives, and nowness conscious based on our memories. Memory can be approached as our awareness of defining ourselves and our presence. Memory is more than knowing the past; itβs about knowing now, knowing around you. This collective performance brings the mind and the body together in the space.
