Jan Egbers+
The practice of Netherlands-born designer Jan Egbers spans sound, space, image and text and is held together by an interest in strategies of communication. His recent work grapples with the intricacies of climate breakdown, using (science-)fiction as a tool for materialising the slippery feelings of grief and uncertainty that come with environmental change.
A Score for the Reef is a piece of immersive climate fiction that deals with the transformation of a fictionalised Dutch landscape. Within a perspective-switching sonic narrative, recording, voice and duration become tools for investigating the resonances and repercussions of humans-in-nature and nature-in-humans.
