Aleksandra Zawistowska+
“Arms touching hands, holding glass, drinking. Soft motion, a jar carefully held. Drawing near Aleksandra Zawistowska’s table, The Catalyst of Social Dreaming (2022), its round benches invite the visitor to take a seat and to join in. The video that projects over the glass cups, jars, and plates—each piece hand blown and uniquely shaped—shows them in use, with people sharing. I imagine bodies having slow meals or an intimate conversation. Could a different way of connecting be dreamt up? I watch hands pouring wine. What shape would that take? With The Catalyst of Social Dreaming, Zawistowska questions how social relations are constructed, and wonders how they could be reimagined. It is the breaking of glass, its shards on a table, that reveal a moment of transformation.”
