Drawing near Aleksandra Zawistowska’s table, The Catalyst of Social Dreaming (2022), its round benches invite the visitor to take a seat and to join in. The video that projects over the glass cups, jars, and plates—each piece hand blown and uniquely shaped—shows them in use, with people sharing. I imagine bodies having slow meals or an intimate conversation. Could a different way of connecting be dreamt up? I watch hands pouring wine. What shape would that take? With The Catalyst of Social Dreaming, Zawistowska questions how social relations are constructed, and wonders how they could be reimagined.
