“The transition of Palvan-Zade’s work, from publishing and editing to filmmaking, is evident in the rich and complex methods of storytelling he applies. Seemingly disparate narratives lap at one another until they rush together—instrumental music mirrors the tension of the sport, reins are tightened, horses’ eyes twitch, and competition plays out as a deep voice reads “Bliss, joy, aliveness,” or, “This is it”. These all guide the viewer back—back to the present.”
