"In the physical and philosophical spaces Engelhardt frequents, notions of the future loop back through cybernetic informed philosophies of the 1960s and 1970s—philosophies foundational to, and residual within, European and United States countercultural movements of the Left. While techno-utopian ideals might best remain in the past (although they rarely do), Engelhardt’s hardware and software propositions redirect divergent methodologies of reclamation inherited from, but not exclusive to, ad-hocism, cyberfeminism, and anarchism—methodologies that, rather than imagining away the conditions of the present, seek to move with and through them."
