Jan Egbers+
“Jan Egbers’s work is a meditation on Capitalocene thinking, that fittingly uses sound as its medium. This effervescent medium of soundscape production is appropriate, because Egber’s critique-via-synthesis creates an experiential and spatial entity which is possible to enter into—as distinct from one which offers its information without risk of being contaminated by its ideas. In his sonic work, a synthesis of distinct components and ideas is replaced by an integration of said parts, becoming tangible, yet remaining a spacious body—an uncanny quality in this medium. In its post-Cartesian endeavor, Egber’s practice weaves an anti-capitalist tapestry, converging upon fiction as a tool to stress our understandings of nature and society as real abstractions.”
