Stefan Meyer+
“Embedded in activist and socially engaged art practices, Meyer is interested in the question of how art can have a direct and lasting impact on the real world. His ideas on social and ecological transformation recall artist Joseph Beuys’s notion of “social sculpture”— coined in the 1970s, it is based on the potential for art to transform society and the idea that every aspect of life can be approached creatively. Instead of this rather utopian idea, Meyer’s work is concerned with gestures of direct action, interfering, if necessary, with legal procedures.”
