Convince Your Mirror

Duo show by Isa Bongers and Lea van Vlodrop in which their works aim to reveal a similar visual dynamic in reverse: some images move from noise towards clarity, while others dissolve from clarity back into noise. We see convincing a mirror not as a passive or merely reflective act. It implies activity. The mirror is not a neutral surface, but a responsive field in which both the images I presented and Lea’s paintings participate differently. To convince the mirror is to acknowledge that what we see, and what we become through seeing, is always a negotiation.
