Awururua

Awururua is a multimedia performance project that combines video art, music, spoken word, and foodmaking. It tells the story of a girl who eats herself upon starving to death under the food shortage of Shanghai's extreme 0-covid lockdown in 2022. As the girl consumes her own body, she enters an inner landscape where starvation transforms into a surreal process of rebirth. The story connects personal and collective trauma to transcendental inquiry through devouring, digesting, and becoming, revealing censored history through the lens of a mystical satire.
