‘Cruise’ is a text-based installation composed of letters and engraved marble stones, developed around the queer histories and myths of Piccardthof and the Stadspark outskirts in Groningen. The work draws on local rumors about lesbian cruising sites and informal queer meeting places. Through semi-fictionalized letters and spatial interventions, I approached these sites as locations where alternative forms of intimacy and community briefly emerge outside dominant social structures. The letters function as fragments of a dispersed narrative, to be taken home by visitors as an act of cruising. The marble stones are permanently embedded in the soil, gradually becoming part of the landscape.
