spin emerged as a student advocate group in 2019 at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, supporting a net of students and teachers through community building, a student-led curriculum and protests. One focus was building and hosting the rooftop garden as a place for study. After graduating, we found another garden to continue our work with the rooftop but outside the university. The garden is part of Learning Grounds, a platform for collective learning, dreaming and cultivating care practices through and with gardens, co-initiated by artists, gardeners, educators, researchers Michelle Teran and Renee Turner. There, we have been exploring self-publishing and gardening as a collective practice and methodology. At the same time we have joined the Lumbung Practice program that has embedded us in its Lumbung ecosystem and given us tools for self-organization, and sociopolitical artistic and curatorial practice, as well as producing alternative art institutions and economies for
the future.
