Looking for what is left

2026

Caught between the tension of destructive processes of marble extraction and its aesthetic fetishisation, this work arranges a series of objects questioning the value of material through pre-existing matter. Practices of collecting, care, and reusing respond to the afterlives of extraction. In an assembly of leftover, found, and reassembled pieces, the stone fragments find their return. Merely held in place–rather than being fabricated further– it temporarily situates itself while remaining in its found state. Its incisions, cracks and broken off corners speak not only of waste, dust, and excess of extractivist processes, but also of the potential of the broken remnant precisely in its incompleteness.

reclaimed construction pole, spade, barrier stand, castors, and cutting wire; brushed steel connecting clamps; collected stone fragments.
