Cenital investigates, from a nadir perspective, the theories of subjectivation and the notion of perspective, revisiting the paradigm of vision while traversing photographic language to move beyond it. The work brings together two elements—a photograph and a 12-meter pole—that explore the narrative generated by the search for a reference point: when one seeks a connection between two or more things to establish a relationship, that is, to know.
The pole and the photograph indicate a direction without a fixed “there,” lacking a final destination; they invite the viewer to travel upward into an exterior that sometimes embodies the weight of a generational promise, and other times a gentle sway—the blue air, a relief. The gesture through which both elements are formalized encourages the viewer to lift their gaze, stepping out of the frames of meaning (both literal and symbolic) imposed by the context in which the codes of artistic language construct a specific experience of the object. In this way, Cenital also reflects on the process of becoming a subject—how perception, attention, and perspective participate in shaping the viewer’s own positionality within the world.
