Biography
gervaise alexis savvias (they/them) is a Cypriot–Zambian writer, artist and researcher based between Amsterdam, NL and Nicosia, CY. Their practice figures itself through an entanglement of speculative historiography, sound, cultural criticism, hauntology, and the mysticism of the chance encounter. Their ongoing work is concerned with black negativity, infrastructural critique, spectrality, and utilising poetry as a form and pitch to articulate a sociopolitical otherwise. They have performed, published, lectured, and collaborated in the context of exhibitions, festivals and projects such as 'The Broken Pitcher (de Appel, 2026), Fiber Festival (Amsterdam, 2026), 'Plot(ting) (Amsterdam, 2025), 'no, no, bad timing! archiving queer times and spaces' (NiMAC, 2024), and SESSIONS x SPEL (2023) amongst others.
